Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2024 - Over 5 Tons of Waste Sorted, Driving Thailand Toward Becoming a Full-Fledged Hub of Festivals.
Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2024 will be held from April 11 to 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, along Ratchadamnoen Klang Road and at Sanam Luang.
The Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have joined hands to launch the “Maha Songkran World Water Festival 2024” held along Ratchadamnoen Klang Road and at Sanam Luang from April 11–15, 2024.
The event featured more than 20 grand Songkran parades, each showcasing the unique cultural identity and traditions of different regions across Thailand.

Beyond the excitement and variety of activities, one of the key highlights of the event was the waste segregation zone—an initiative driven by the event organizers and related agencies in collaboration with MMU, who recognized the importance of minimizing waste generation during the festival. Proper waste sorting was implemented to ensure that all materials were passed on to the appropriate agencies for responsible processing. This effort not only helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but also supported the circular economy, raised awareness of social responsibility, and promoted sustainable tourism. All of which are essential steps in transforming Thailand into a truly complete Hub of Festivals.
